Register for Weekend Camping
So
you need to pull together a camping trip or outing at the last
minute, eh?
Well, organizing a
trip 72 hours before you are supposed to leave can be a hairy
venture, but we'll do what we can to give you a hand. Listed
below are the facilities we still have available as of two and
three weeks out from the dates shown. You can view the sites
or lodges here on this website and, if you find a place you
like, give our Council Camping Secretary Jan Shoener a call at
(570) 207-1227. She can confirm that the site is still
available and help you get all your paperwork in order. Tour
permits from your own council are still required (Jan's a
miracle worker, but her powers extend only so far! You still
have to get your local council to sign off on one...) and you
still need to pay your fees, but she'll tell you what you need
to do.
If you have any questions about the camp or site / lodge
itself, or need last minute help with what items to bring,
etc. feel free to contact our Ranger, Tim Bongard, at (570)
335-0283 or email him at
tbongard@nepabsa.org .

Wonderful Differences, Same High Standards
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council is blessed with two
wonderful camps that together provide Scouts with nearly 800
acres of wilderness.
Camp Acahela in Blakeslee, PA sits on a peninsula formed by
the joining of two world-class fishing rivers, the Lehigh
River and the Tobyhanna Creek. Acahela boasts 242 acres of
variety from heavily wooded ridges and cliffs, to wide open
parade fields, to shady groves of ancient fir trees that
provide a wide variety of camping opportunities year-round for
every type of Scouting unit and a dynamite Cub Scout Resident
camping program during the summer months. In the winter we are
just minutes from Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Split Rock and all
the other ski resorts that the Poconos are famous for.

Goose Pond Scout Reservation is renowned for its Summer
Resident Boy Scout program and is one of the best examples of
a classic Scout Camp anywhere. Located near Hamlin, PA
and Lake Wallenpaupack, Goose Pond is a 200-plus acre glacial
lake surrounded by hillsides of forests rich in
evergreens, hardwoods, and other fauna. In addition to the
Pond's traditional setting your find one of the region's best
C.O.P.E. courses, an unbelievable campfire circle, and more
challenges for any type of Scout unit. Staying at the Pond
places you close to many of the sites on the northern end of
the Pocono Plateau, Scranton, and the tri-state region.
